About Steven

Steven was born in Dallas in 1976. He has always been interested in how things work and unique ways of solving problems. At an early age this manifested itself as an uncanny ability to understand and manipulate computers. At college, he took several government and pre-law classes to connect with a young woman he met named Stacey. Combining his love of complex systems and problem solving that he had previously applied mainly to computers, Steven found himself fascinated with government and politics.

In 1998 he graduated from Evangel University with a BS in Computer Science and a minor in Biblical Studies. Steven and Stacey were married that same year and moved to Tulsa where he started his career at Avis/Budget Group as a computer programmer.

Steven and Stacey both love Tulsa and have volunteered their time to make it a better place for their children; Regan, Audrey, and Steven Jr. Both have served as party precinct officials and both mentor K-5th grade boys at their church on Wednesday nights. Stacey, a native Tulsan, has previously worked with an after school program for at risk youth. Currently she volunteers as a homeroom mother at Union's Jefferson Elementary and serves on the board of Hampton South Homeowner's Association.

Steven, age 35, currently has a seat on Tulsa's Sales Tax Overview Committee, where for the last four years he has reviewed and reported on the expenditures of Tulsa's Third Penny Sales tax and bond programs. He was appointed to that position in 2007 by Democrat Councilor Dennis Troyer (District 6), and reappointed by Republican Councilor John Eagleton (District 7)

Steven has been an active follower of The City Council, frequently attending meetings and speaking before the council both as a member of the STOC and as a concerned citizen.
